The Perfect Tailgating Kit for Your Car

October 20th, 2021 by

The beginning of fall also marks the beginning of football season. If you have plans to catch the big game in person this season, then chances are you’re up for some tailgating action. Here at Community Motors, we know how important it is to have everything you need for any memorable tailgating event. That’s why we’ve put together the perfect tailgating kit.

Follow along as we list the gameday essentials you can’t go without:

Portable Grill and Grilling Essentials

Grilling is one of the most popular activities at any tailgating event. If you plan on whipping up something tasty for yourself or fellow tailgaters, then you’ll definitely want to have a portable grill on hand. You can go with a charcoal grill for simplicity’s sake or a propane-fueled grill for a cleaner cooking experience.

Of course, you’ll also need an assortment of grilling essentials. Tongs, spatulas, basic seasonings, etc. You can even bring along a cutting board to make doling out portions much easier.

Disposable Dinnerware

There’s no worse feeling than grilling up some fine game-day cuisine, only to realize you don’t have any forks, spoons, or plates on hand. Being without those essential pieces of dinnerware can be an embarrassing experience, so make sure you have plenty of disposable cutlery and plates before the big game. Don’t forget to bring disposable cups, straws, and napkins. This way, you won’t have to beg your fellow tailgaters for the essentials.

Portable Cooler

When tailgating with friends and family, you’ll want to have a few cold refreshing drinks on hand. Of course, there’s no better way to keep those drinks cold than with a nice cooler. Here’s what to look for in a good cooler:

  • Durable – Forget about those flimsy Styrofoam coolers. They’re cheap as dirt, but they’re nowhere near as long-lasting as a hard plastic or metal cooler. Canvas, nylon, and polyester coolers are also tough, plus they’re easy to clean.
  • Portable – You also want a cooler that’s easy to tote around. If you need a large cooler, go with a rolling cooler with a pair of plastic wheels and a telescoping handle.
  • Sizeable – The bigger the cooler, the more drinks it can carry. A large 50-quart cooler can handle over 80 drink cans – enough for almost any tailgating event.

Also, don’t forget about the ice. Not only should you bring enough ice for the cooler, but also plenty of ice for your drinks, too.

Folding Table and Chairs

Unless you plan on using your trunk or tailgate as your prime perch, you’ll need a comfortable place to park yourself. Portable folding chairs provide great seating options for you and your tailgating companions, plus they won’t take up too much cargo space when it’s time to put them away. Add a high-quality folding table and you have the perfect setup for a relaxing game day experience.

Extra Bags and Containers

Extra bags and containers come in handy at the end of the game. For instance, you can stash your dirty grilling utensils in a large container for safekeeping and later cleanup. Smaller containers can hold various leftovers and spare condiments without fear of making a bigger mess. And speaking of messes, those extra bags can be used throughout the tailgating event to keep messes down and after the event to grab up unexpected messes.

Bluetooth Speakers

Whether you want to keep up with the big game or perhaps hype yourself up with your favorite tunes, portable Bluetooth speakers let you do both without draining your vehicle’s battery. You can use your smartphone or Bluetooth-enabled media player to control your portable speakers – no wires or Wi-Fi connectivity needed. As a bonus, you can stash your Bluetooth speakers in your glovebox or hidden cargo compartment when you’re done.

Pop-Up Tent

Anything can happen on game day, especially if the weather forecast is iffy. A pop-up tent ensures your tailgating experience isn’t ruined by rain. Even with sunny skies, a pop-up tent offers some well-needed shade from the sun.

Cleaning Supplies

Of course, you want to leave your tailgating spot as clean as it was when you arrived. So, don’t forget to bring along a few cleaning essentials. These include trash bags, paper towels, disinfectant wipes, and some spray cleaner.
